Despite being flops, their stories have stayed in our minds somewhere and we can watch them secretly! Isn’t it? Here are some of the Bollywood’s most famous box office flops.
13 Box Office Flops We Secretly Love
1. Shaandaar
This film had a whopping budget of 75 crores, and that pinched for it to be a flop. This was the most awaited movie of 2015 but shattered on the day of release. The cast was a fresh pair, there were luxurious sets and superhit songs. But nothing could save the movie Shandaar as it had no script.

Bombay Velvet was another big flop of the year 2015. This movie is such a scar in Anurag Kashyap’s career. The film came with a budget of 125 crores and was at a loss of 100 crores. 3. Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja
This was Boney Kapoor’s ambitious project involving all his money. This film was made at a time when the budget used to be in lakhs, but this one had in crores; 9 crores. Its original director, Shekhar Kapoor also realized how shoddy the film was. Trade analysts held poor dialogues, weak music and a silly story-line responsible for the debacle. We still feel sorry for actors Anil Kapoor, Sridevi and Jackie Shroff for the downfall of this movie.

This film had it all; a superstar son, a brilliant director, a Mexican hottie and a melodic album, but the film was a flop. Kites could have been a dream crossover film for Hrithik Roshan, but unfortunately, a cliched script wasted 150 crores!

6. Love Story 2050
The film claimed to have a lot of special effects with VFX teams from Australia and New Zealand. Harman Baweja could not launch well with this senseless script. 8. Mangal Pandey
True to his character, Aamir Khan took a lot of time to prepare for this film too, to look closest to the real Mangal Pandey. This was also one of the most eagerly awaited movies but was not accepted well. The idea of a prostitute romancing one of India’s favorite freedom fighters didn’t go down well with many. All we remember in this 35-crore film is Aamir’s long hair and his big mustache.

9. Saawariya
Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor could have the perfect launchpad under Bhansali’s banner with this film. But this 40-crore film was not well received in the Indian market. It was shot on ‘blue colored’ sets throughout, not entertained well by the audience.

10. Raju Chacha
Raju Chacha had a budget of 30 crores at the time when lavish films invested 15 crores. The film was released on Christmas but still was a flop. It, unfortunately, resembled the 1965 classic, The Sound of Music. The movie had a long and poor screenplay and insipid lead performances. A major flop for actor-producer Ajay Devgan.

11. Blue
Blue was Bollywood’s most expensive film in 2009. Budgeted at 129 crores, the film had brilliant underwater shots, expensive action choreography, a long schedule in the Bahamas but no grace! The budget was overboard only because of the hefty paychecks of Akshay Kumar and Sanjay Dutt. This under-sea bounty left many disappointed. Special appearance by Kylie Minogue (who was paid 6.6 crores) which only added to the producers’ pockets.

12. Drona
Isn’t it always a risk to invest 87 crores on Abhishek Bachchan? Well, Goldie Behl; a good friend and producer took the chance. But the film bombed heavily at the box office and his aspirations failed. A superhero flick, so to speak, was too full of imaginary rubbish.

13. Ajooba
Ajooba had a budget of 8 crores in 1991; which is huge for that era. The loss was so huge that Shashi Kapoor had to close down his film production company after this film.
