1. The Grudge
The movie is directed by Nicolas Pesce and was released on January 3rd. The movie is a quasi reboot to the 2004 remake of the 2002 Japanese film (both by Takashi Shimazu) and had a good time on the silver screen. There was a rumor back in 2011 all over the internet of Ghost Pictures working on its relaunch. But the movie was released this year in January. The story is by Jeff Buhler and the screenplay comes from the director Nicolas Pesce (“The Eyes of My Mother”). The movie features Andrea Riseborough, John Cho, Betty Gilpin, and horror icon Lin Shaye.
2. The Turning
Directed by Floria Sigismondi, the film is based on a novel and is a creation of Universal Pictures. It was released on January 24. The movie is based on a 19th-century novel “The Turning of the Screw” by Henry James. Directed by Floria Sigismondi (“The Runaways”), the movie is starred by Mackenzie Davis, Finn Wolfhard, and Brooklynn Prince.
The story is about a nanny with no experience taking care of two creepy kids in a huge house. The script more or less has an outline of “The Conjuring” written by Chad and Carey Hayes.

3. The Lodge
The movie was released on February 7 and is directed by Severin Fiala and Veronika Franz. The Lodge is about a woman Snowed who is locked in an isolated cabin with her fiancé’s children, Grace (Riley Keough) and is trying to build new relationships along with all the threats of her past and is applying new tricks to build a new one. The movie is directed by Severin Fiala and Veronika Franz and was originally premiered at Sundance and was later picked up by Neon.
The Lodge was initially set to make a debut in 2019 but then was released on February 7 in the United States.
4. The Invisible Man
The Blumhouse Productions released the film on February 28 featuring Elisabeth Moss in it and Leigh Whannell being its director. The Invisible Man is about a woman being haunted by her abusive ex and is constantly stalked by her. No one can see him and no one believes that he is still alive.
The script is written by Leigh Whannell and he has very well portrayed the characters created by H.G Wells. With most of his hits, Whannell is mostly known for 15 years of creating horror films some of them being “Saw” and “Insidious”.
5. Saint Maud
“Saint Maud” made its debut in 2019 and the original was released on April 10. The movie is directed by Rose Glass. The horror story is about a Christain nurse who is suffering from cancer. The movie has got great positive responses from all over the world. It also got responses from festival-goers and reviewers commenting it as an “unsettling film” for its “creeping dread”.
“Saint Maud” premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 8, 2019, and a week later made its debut at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas. The movie was acquired for North American distribution by A24.
6. Candyman
Candyman was released on June 12 and is directed by Nia DaCosta. This Universal Pictures film is produced by Jordan Peele and features Yahya Abdul Mateen II. Candyman is a spiritual sequel to the 1992 movie and has its subsequent sequel of a murderous ghost being a scary one and would appear anywhere if you take his name five times in front of a mirror.

7. Last Night in Soho
Last Night in Soho features Thomasin McKenzie and Edgar Wright being its director. The movie was released on September 25 having some elements of time travel. The movie features Anya Taylor-Joy too. Wright says that the movie is all about a mysterious time journey and about a character back in 1960 London who experiences it that she has traveled a decade. She finds it hard to get into the fact of traveling for almost a decade.
8. Halloween Kills
Directed by David Gordon Green, “Halloween Kills” is a Blumhouse Productions and will be released on October 16. The movie features Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer, Andi Matichak reprising their roles from 2018 sequels. With all the interesting characters, it is also being announced that Anthony Michael Hall will be joining as Tommy Doyle and Kyle Richards will be playing a similar role as Lindsey Wallace from the 1978 film.
With much of a scream of the film in many countries, it seems that the filmmakers are keeping the secret related to the film for as long as they can.
9. Army of the Dead
The Netflix movie will be released in the winter of 2020. The movie will have the debut on Netflix with Zack Snyder being its director and Dave Bautista, Ana de la Reguera, and Ella Purnell as its stars. The actual date of the release is still not declared but according to a Hollywood reporter, the final day of the shoot was October 19, 2019. We hope for its great release and success.
10. Antebellum
Directed by Gerard Bush and Christopher Renz, Antebellum is a thriller about an author who finds herself trapped in a horrifying past. It stars Janelle Monaé, Marque Richardson II, Eric Lang, Jack Huston, Kiersey Clemons, Tongayi Chirisa, and Gabourey Sidibe. The release date of the film cannot be declared due to the pandemic going on.
