This movie first streamed on Netflix in 2017, is too extreme to be believed. This movie explains the story of Brobergs, a middle-class Idaho family, that in the 1970s became close to their beautiful neighbors, Robert Berchtold along with his wife and children. 

They were all members of the same congregation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They grew closer with Robert and he was always found in the house of Brobergs spending the whole time with parents Mary Ann and Bob and daughters Jan, Karen, and Susan. But, Robert had gained sexual attraction towards their 12-year old daughter, Jan. 

At first, Robert convinced her parents so that he could share the bed with her, and then he went to kidnap her twice and sexually assaulted her. He tried to brainwash her mind against resisting and told her fantasies about aliens. 

2. American Murder: The Family Next Door

Shanann Cathryn Watts and Christopher Lee Watts, along with their two daughters, Bella and Celeste, looked like the perfect family on social media. They updated their daily life chores on social media and they lived much like any other American family. This illusion came to an end when pregnant Shanann along with her two daughters disappeared in mid-august. 

At the end of the movie, Christopher Watts unveils the secret about their disappearance. This movie is best to watch during Halloween and you will enjoy it.

3. Tickled

This movie is not as funny as it sounds. David Farrier and Dylan Reeve’s documentary has nothing to do with the murder but will still give you spooky feelings during Halloween. While searching for an interesting story, the journalists came across this movie that has a collection of videos that involved grown men being tickled for a sport called “competitive endurance tickling.”

What the journalist instead stumbled upon was a dark world of conspiracies filled with fetishes, blackmail, and shady financials. This is a must-watch for all crime movie fans.

4. Mommy, Dead, and Dearest

Nothing is more spine chilling than Erin Lee Carn’s dive into the murder of Dee Dee Blanchard. In June 2015, Blanchard was found dead in her home after there was a series of shocking Facebook posts. Interestingly, her young, cancer-diagnosed daughter was found missing during the initial search. This movie will take many unnatural and unbelievable turns. This will create a lot of suspense and will raise a lot of questions. 

5. Beware the Slenderman

Here, in May 2014, two 12-year old girls, Anissa Weier and Morgan Geyser led their best friend into the woods. They then proceeded to stab their best friend 19 times as a part of a ritual to prove that the online legend slender man was real.

You will get confused about what is the actual horrifying part, the young ages of the girls, the level of violence they did, or the fact that they committed a crime about something they found online. 

6. The Staircase

If you only have a couple of hours to watch any movie, then you shouldn’t watch this. But, if you have enough time to watch a movie, then this movie is worth it. In 2001. Kathleen Peterson died in her home. Though it was said that she died due to falling off from the stairs but the blood around her told a different story.

Michael Peterson, Kathleen’s husband was suspected to have killed her and made everyone believe that it was due to the stairs. The husband’s activities will chill your bones.

Here, thirty-six-year-old Diane Schuler drove 1.7 miles in the wrong direction before colliding head-on with an SUV. Many people were killed in the accident including Schuler, her daughter, and her three nieces. Everyone thought that the lady was normal but her toxicology reports said otherwise which also resulted in the accident.

11. Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes

Most people will never find themselves close to a serial killer. But this movie shows the worst thing. During the reign of terror, Ted Bundy was one of the notorious serial killers, having killed at least 30 women in America. Using archival footage and audio recordings Bundy made while he was on death row, you will join pieces together a deep dive into the man who has inspired so many nightmares.
