1. Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl

This is a biopic based on the life of Gunjan Saxena, the first Indian woman to pilot a Cheetah Helicopter during the Kargil War in 1999. This is a Dharma Productions and Zee Studios production and casts Jahnvi Kapoor as Gunjan Saxena, Pankaj Tripathi, Angad Bedi, Manav Vij and Vineet Kumar Singh in major roles. 

 

2. Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare

This is a satire film by Alankrita Shrivastava. Featuring Konkona Sen Sharma and Bhumi Pednekar in lead roles, this is a charming story of womanhood, sisterhood, and everything in between. Vikrant Massey and Amol Parashar ae in prominent roles opposite the lead actors. This movie is essential to your list of movies and shows to watch this Weekend.

3. Raat Akeli Hai 

Radhika Apte is the face of Indian streaming platforms lately. She is back in action with Raat Akeli Hai, a mystery-thriller that’ll pair her opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui as the lead character,  Jatil Yadav, who tries to uncover what happened one fateful night. 

 

4. Class of ‘83

 The film is based on the book “The Class of 83” by Sayyed Yunus Hussain Zaidi. 

Produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment, the movie stars Bobby Deol in the lead role of Dean Vijay Singh. He portrays the role of a cop-turned-educator whose students grapple with the complexities of being in the force and devotion to the nation. The film is directed by Atul Sabharwal. 

 

5. Breaking Bad (2008-2013)

Breaking bad is an American crime drama television series and focuses on Walter White, a chemistry teacher who discovers that he has cancer and then gets into the meth-making business to cover for his medical expenses. The story has a twist when he starts dealing in partnership with Jesse Pinkman. 

 

6. Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2013-Present)

 This American live-action sitcom has been decorated around a bunch of detectives who are carefree yet very particular about their respective duties. Things change abruptly when a new officer Ray Holt is appointed to take charge of Jake Peralta and his team. You’ll find some of the most influential characters on-screen in there. 7. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (2015-Present)

This is an American romantic musical comedy-drama television series. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is a story around a young and successful young woman, Rebecca Bunch, who gives up her life in New York and moves to California simply to find love and happiness. This is a low-key and sober sitcom that you’d love to watch. 

 

8. The Crown (2013-Present)

The Crown is a historic drama series that says the stories around the reign of Queen Elizabeth II or Claire Foy. The series showcases an inside look at the early reign of the queen. A story of how the Queen ascended the throne at age 25 after the death of her father, King George VI and continued shedding light on her personal struggles, romances, and political rivalries. 

 

9. Daredevil (2015-Present) 

Marvel’s Daredevil follows Matthew Murdock, an attorney by day, a vigilante by night. Murdock is blinded in an accident as a child and has heightened senses thereafter that he uses as Daredevil to fight crime on the streets of New York after the sun goes down. Daredevil is an example of perfect storytelling and momentum that is alive in the minds of people after so many years too. 

 

10. Devlok (2017)

Devlok with Devdutt Pattanaik is not a fictional story. It sheds light on some mythological events, stories and characters with the renowned mythologist himself. Devdutt Pattanaik is a well-known character for displaying his own version of The Mahabharata and Ramayana, apart from other notable works.

11. Ghoul (2018)

Nida Rahim is a young interrogating officer who is in a quest to search for the truth and becomes a survival sequence for the officer after curious events start to occur. It is soon found out that inmates are inhabited by a Ghoul, and has been the reason for everything wrong inside the jail premises. 

 

12. Fauda (2015-Present)

Having learned that the enemy they tried to kill is still alive, Doron, a retired officer from the Israel defense force is re-called to join his team. Doron comes to know that the enemy plans to join his brother’s wedding and in order to safeguard his family, Doron and his team decide to go undercover for the wedding. Things go awry when their cover is blown.

 

13. House of Cards (2013-Present)

This is going to keep you gripped forever. This is a story of ruthless politician Frank Underwood, who goes to any extent to achieve power in the White House and shoot down anyone who opposes him. 

 

14. It Happens Only In India (2012)

India is a country of diverse cultures. It happens only in India explores some of the lesser-known areas and towns in India. This show has insights from the hustling and bustling streets of India and showcases some of the most interesting places from India. 

 

15. Khotey sikkey(2011)

Five affluent youths were misguided before they found their sense and direction. The story is about their admission in Mumbai police as police officers to make a better life, than what it was earlier. They, along with the officer, go on crime-busting missions throughout the city.
