Yes, that Candyman. Before the remake comes out, revisit the 1992 horror classic, a movie that’s probably a lot better than you remember. Sure, you remember the bees and the urban legend riff on a boogeyman who appears if you saw his name, but did you realize how smart this movie is about social and racial issues? Or how well it uses Chicago as a backdrop? It’s an incredibly effective movie that hasn’t just held up over the last nearly-30 years but gotten better with age.

9. Cargo (2018)

Director: James Dylan

There is a recent zombie wave in the horror movie scenario right now. The movie stars Martin Freeman whose wife just died because of a severe infection. Within 48 hours, he might become one of the walking dead roaming the Australian landscape, and in that time he must find a suitable haven for his baby daughter. A very well acted movie that adds a few wrinkles to the standard zombie mythology.

10. Child’s Play (1988)

Director: Tom Holland
Main Cast: Catherine Hicks, Chris Sarandon, Alex Vincent

Remember Chucky? We all loved the character, isn’t it? The homicidal doll made a comeback in the summer of 2019, and the original franchise is still going strong with another sequel in production. Freddy and Jason had hung up on Chucky long back. But this movie is making a comeback from where it all began. A classic horror movie that had instilled a fear in the whole generation on throwing away their toys.

Adults, teenagers alike have a taste for horror thrillers. They get super scary, they remain in your head and mind for a longer time than expected, they create a mess in your mind each time something relatable comes up and they are the scariest to watch for people living alone.

Yet, this genre has a fan base, and directors are bold enough to give us such real-life horror to watch. Kudos to their guts too to survive in such a set up during the shooting period. You must be having some tales associated with watching horror movies with friends or family or alone.
