A big banner movie with a stellar star cast and one of the best musicians, this sure has to be a blockbuster movie. But such movies always have to go through a rough patch, either trolls or the censor board or the court or something else altogether. So here we are yet again to witness another controversy for the much-awaited movie ‘Mersal’.
Just after the teaser was launched, Mr. Rajendran filed a petition in the Chennai court against Sri Thenandal Films, the production house of the movie ‘Mersal’ Apparently Mr. Rajendran petition was for an interim stay on the film because he claims that he has registered with this name way back in 2014. He wants an interim stay where Sri Thenandal Films can neither promote the movie nor release any songs or even release the movie under the name ‘Mersal’. The court has sanctioned the interim stay and has ordered the producers of the film to stay quiet till the next order that is at least until October 3rd.
But will all this affect the movie in any way? The hype created around this movie is rather high for the film makers to even worry. Vijay playing three different time periods or characters are much anticipated. The teaser on YouTube has already crossed 24 million. Being in the era of social media, the fans have shown their love across all platforms and the madness is nowhere close to coming to an end. The movie is set to hit the theatres on October 18th, 2017. You know what will bring more fun this Diwali? There are two movies releasing back to back, one is Mersal and the other one is Villian.
Having said that, the mass fans of Vijay are in millions and no controversy can damage the movie in any way. Seeing on the other side of the coin, this whole controversy is giving more publicity (indirect) than ever. So let’s hope that the huge buzz never reduces and we can go hit the theatres first day, first show on the actual date of the release (we don’t want it to delay, do we?) for Mersal or whatever they name the movie in case they have to change it, but we like it as Mersal, don’t you too?
