Growing up in the 90s, Harry Potter has been the synonym of our fantasy worlds. Reading fantasy books and watching them on screen are two very different experiences. Recreating books on screen cannot keep up with the engaging book stories, but can be very entertaining. Goblet of Fire, Lord of the Rings and all 7 books of the Harry Potter series have kept the characters alive as in the books. 1. Fantastic beasts and where to find them

Fantastic beasts are an extension of the Harry Potter universe. This movie shows a magical world without Harry Potter and presents a different perspective, a new hero in the virtual world of magic. There are two movies in the series and we find the first one more entertaining. The second one, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald which is also available on Amazon Prime Video. 

 

2. Shazam 

Shazam is a delight to the child in our hearts. It is a simple story of a boy who has the power to say a magic word to become a superhero. He remains a boy in the body of a superhero. He can play tricks that you cannot even imagine. The story is about what happens when he chooses to do the right things and the easy things. The movie answers this question with a lot of fun, entertainment, and comedy.

 

3. Aquaman

Based on the underwater world of Atlantis, Aquaman is another coming of age type movie that can be enjoyed with family. Aquaman is a superhero who has greatness thrust upon him and must find it in his heart to be just, as a King. There are some breathtaking sequences in the movie to keep you hooked. Jason Momoa is as perfect as Aquaman as Hugh Jackman is for Wolverine.

4. Van Helsing

Hugh Jackman is the lead in the fantasy world of the vampire slayer, Van Helsing. The movie revolves around Van Helsing, a legendary monster hunter. Count Dracula(Richard Roxburgh) is executing some evil plans and Van Helsing is sent to Transylvania to prevent the execution. 

 

5. Oblivion

Oblivion is a movie set in the post-apocalyptic world where Jack Harper (Tom Cruise) is a Drone repairman living in the sky literally. He takes a plunge and enters the “radiation” zone and discovers that all is not what it seems. 

 

6. The Mummy

A movie much ahead of its time in 1999, The Mummy has some great visuals that hold up so good in the present times too. The plot is an action-adventure, starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz. The iconic mummy is fantastically portrayed by Arnold Vosloo. The first 2 movies in the sequel – The Mummy and The Mummy Returns are fantastic with the third movie in the series, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor being an average entry. All of them available on Prime Videos. 

 

7. The Chronicles of Riddick

Richard Riddick(Vin Diesel) is on some other level of adventure with scene-setting a planet conquering in the Chronicles of Riddick. He is a convict with a price on his head and must face the Necromongers, a race of religious fanatics who are systematically conquering planets.

8. Tumbbad

Tumbbad is a movie set in the times when India was under British rule. This one might look like a horror movie, but is an epic rather. The movie revolves around a monster Hastar. A family builds a shrine for him and attempts to get their hands on his treasure. Not knowing that the monster is not to be worshipped, they realize they are in trouble when their greeds keep growing. A very gripping movie that keeps you glued and deserves your attention for sure. 

 

9. Lord of the Rings

For fantasy movie lovers, this movie needs no introduction. It is a must-watch trilogy for an ultimate fantasy experience. The Lord of the Rings is the best place to start if someone wants to start exploring the fantasy world. The story of the trilogy is simple, but it is the journey itself that will keep you engaged. 

 

10. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)

Spider-man is a gem in the world of animated Marvel movies. Spider-Verse is the best in the league so far. The story stirs a string of parallel universes where a teenager Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) finds himself becoming Spider-Man. Aided by the Spider-Men — and woman — from other timelines, he must learn to be like Peter Parker. Available to watch on Netflix India.
